Beginners Class - Booty Basket

If you haven't been to our classes before, registering your interest here means you don't need to fill out any forms when you arrive.

We will start our class with a safety discussion followed by a short warm up and body check in. This months topic is a booty basket, KnottyButt’s favourite tie. This tie is also known as a monoblock, oshiri shibari or a basket tie.

Pre-requisits

Single column tie, x-friction

Equipment

You will need a minimum of two lengths of rope (7-10m) and a pair of EMT shears for this class.

We have beautiful Japanese Ogawa to sell at £16 for an 8m length. If you are wanting to purchase full kits, ropes of a different length, or many ropes please get in touch beforehand.
Safety shears are available for £5.
We also stock a range of Neya waxplay candles and tenugui.

Price

This class will be £10 to attend. We are able to offer students a discounted ticket at the price of £5 when present with a student card.

Accessibility

The entire venue on the ground floor and is sign posted. Unfortunately there is no wheelchair accesible toilet at this site. Both instructors are neurodivergent and will try and facilitate needs when we can.

Dress code

As this is largely an educational event, we suggest sports or yoga clothing. Slippery or loose clothing can be difficult to tie over and uncomfortable to be in when being tied. We don’t allow genital nudity in this venue. Please keep an eye on your temperature and that of the person you are tying with as temperature changes are common in this type of play.

Other Info

We offer a friendly environment for learning with monthly rope classes, ideal for beginners. The space we have is a matted rehearsal space (unfortunately we do not have hard points available as yet). Please feel free to bring your own blankets/ cushions/ yoga mats for your comfort but not necessary. 

We ask that this be an alcohol free event due to the inherent risk of this type of play.

We encourage you to negotiate this with your partner so that informed consent is obtained prior to starting the ties. This will be encouraged during the class.

We encourage you to bring a note book and pen or other note taking device. We take notes in every class we take and both keep detailed rope journals.

About the instructors

KnottyButt (she/her)

Knottybutt is a queer, femme, neruodiverse, masochistic rope bottom from the midlands. Enjoys connective, constrictive and traditional rope as well as having a passion for rope education. Teaching consent and scene negotiation is of particular interest as well as empowering bottoms to have the confidence to communicate. KB has been involved in the rope community for around 8 years and looks forward to welcoming both new and old faces!

Novellus (she/her)

Novellus is a sadistic rigger and submissive rope bunny based in Birmingham. Her rope journey started as a bottom and most of her influence in tying comes from how she is tied. Her focus in rope is traditional Japanese rope bondage known as shibari or kinbaku as well as some dance-like or dynamic tying. Her teaching focuses on using fundamentals and intent to create flowing, creative and connective rope scenes.
